There’s a new number one at the top of the all-format video game chart in the UK, as put together by Chart Track.
And that game is Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days, which has made far more of an impact than its predecessor. The original game only went as high as number fourteen in the chart, back in 2007.
There’ll be just cause for celebration at Square Enix, as this is the company’s third number one this year, the other two being Final Fantasy XIII and Just Cause 2.
Toy Story 3 has been pushed down to number two, and Red Dead Redemption similarly shuffles down one place to number three.
Lego Harry Potter stays steadfast at number four, with Just Dance continuing to sell, rising slightly to number five.
And there’s some big news for Activision-Blizzard, with its Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 finally become the biggest selling UK game ever. It wrests this mantle from Dr Kawashima, the brain training game on the Nintendo DS.
It took Modern Warfare 2 just ten months to outsell Dr Kawashima, whereas the DS title took three whole years to overtake the previous best selling game, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.
