Tring Me, an India-based communications company, has launched an application that will allow Blackberry users to make VoIP calls via Wi-Fi for the first time without using voice minutes.

Although users of Symbian, Windows Mobile, iPhone and Android phones have benefited from being able to make calls over Wi-Fi for some time, Blackberry users have missed out until now.

Existing BlackBerry VoIP clients all use call minutes on local access calls and callback, whereas the new app from Tring Me uses encrypted calling over Wi-Fi whenever this is available.

The application is expected to be popular with enterprise users.
