Speculation that Apple could be preparing to launch its IPTV service is increasing.
Apple is believed to be planning a product launch event on September 7th, with Apple TV and a new iPod Touch model as the likely candidates.
There are rumours of a new US$99 version of the Apple TV set-top box, which is to be branded as iTV in the US but will probably have a different name in the UK to avoid a conflit with broadcaster ITV.
Apple is also believed to discussing a content deal with News Corp that would see TV shows available on a 48-hour rental from the iTunes store, for 99 cents per episode.
Discussions are also believed to be underway with CBS, NBC Universal and Disney.
The new iTV service is expected to feature iOS software which would allow users to download and install apps such as games onto the TV.
