Huawei Ideos phone with Android 2.2 unveiled

Huawei has revealed a budget mobile which the company claims will be the first to hit the market with Android 2.2 preloaded.

The Google branded handset certainly seems like a pretty cheap way of getting yourself a piece of Froyo action, with pricing set to start from £100 on PAYG plans.

The Huawei Ideos comes complete with a 2.8 inch QVGA display, 3.2 megapixel camera, 512MB of storage (expandable to 32GB via microSD), GPS, wi-fi and 3G. The handset is powered by a 530MHz processor, which will hopefully be enough juice to keep Android 2.2 ticking over.

As it’s a Froyo mobile, it comes with full Flash 10.1 support (along with the Google Chrome browser), and also device tethering.

All in all, it’s not a bad looking proposition for a hundred notes. Expect to see the Huawei Ideos land in the UK at some stage next month, but don’t expect to be able to pronounce the name of the phone when you ask for it.
