Android 2.1 upgrade for Dell Streak now live on O2

The Dell Streak mini-tablet (or large Dom Joly style smartphone, depending on your viewpoint) has finally received its Android 2.1 update on O2.

As our readers spotted it was actually available on Friday, weighing in at a 98MB download.

Be warned, however, that you need to back up all the data on your Streak before you apply the upgrade, as it erases everything upon installation.

Improvements Android 2.1 brings include pinch-to-zoom, as well as 720p HD recording via the device’s camera, and other extras such as support for live wallpapers.

The Streak is still somewhat behind the times, however, as many smartphones such as the HTC Desire are now offering upgrades to Android 2.2, which is speedier still and boasts extras such as device tethering.

This must be cheery news for all seven or so people who have bought one.
