Rumour has it that HTC is working on a tablet which could be out as soon as the first quarter of 2011.
And according to this speculation, which stems from DigiTimes, who in turn picked it up from Taiwanese component producers, the slate will be a Google backed affair that will run Android 3.0.
Juicy news indeed, but as Pocket Lint points out, it’s at odds with what HTC has said in the past about bringing out a tablet. HTC’s global PR Manager had previously told the site that there are so many Android tablets planned, they’d have to come up with a really compelling feature to launch. And it would take “a lot of work” to find that killer feature.
Seeing as that statement was made just two months ago, the current rumours should definitely be taken with a pinch of Saxa’s finest.
We shall see soon enough if there’s any truth here. Meanwhile HTC is holding a press event today, where the company is likely to be launching several new smartphones, including the Desire HD and HD7. More on that later.
