Nokia N8 gets delayed again

There’s some more bad news in the long running saga of the Nokia N8, the Finnish firm’s high-end handset which has been the subject of a number of delays.

Two weeks ago, Nokia promised that it would be available at the end of this month, but it seems the smartphone has slipped once again. Several sources are reporting that the N8 won’t be out until October now.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Nokia stated it had to make some final adjustments to the handset, which would delay it for another few weeks. The exact fine tuning which needs to be done wasn’t mentioned.

There was also mention (in a statement quoted from Nokia on Techtree.com) of record levels of pre-orders which have exceeded Nokia’s expectations.

The latest delay may well cause a few folks to throw their hands up in the air and order an iPhone or Galaxy S instead. When it does finally hit the market, the N8 will come with a 3.5 inch AMOLED touchscreen, 16GB of memory, Symbian^3 and the central attraction, a high quality 12 megapixel camera.
