Dell announces 7 inch Android tablet

It seems that Dell will be pushing another Android powered slate out to join the Streak, its mini-tablet with a 5 inch display (or large smartphone, depending on your viewpoint, really).

This one will be a proper sized tablet, however, with a larger 7 inch screen in line with many of the other Android efforts emerging such as the Samsung Galaxy Tab.

Michael Dell, the Founder of the company, announced the existence of this bigger brother at a conference in San Francisco. However, he didn’t mention any specifications aside from the screen size.

Although it’s probably a fair bet that this one will also have hybrid phone capabilities, much like the Streak and indeed the Samsung Galaxy Tab.

Have we had enough of tablet announcements yet? The iPad has a lot to answer for. While tablet sales are currently booming, driven by Apple’s 10 inch slate, it remains to be seen if interest will be maintained next year.

Certainly, given the vast number of tablets due out, sales are going to be spread much, much thinner.
