There’s some bad news for those of you who were hoping Santa would be placing a Nintendo 3DS in your stocking this year.
The handheld which sports three dimensional gameplay without the need for glasses won’t be arriving in Europe and the US until March 2011, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal. It will sneak out slightly earlier, in February, in the Japanese market.
Missing out on Christmas sales is going to be a bit of a blow for Nintendo, however, with the company downgrading its profit outlook. In its latest financial statement, the WSJ says that Nintendo has in fact cut its full fiscal year profit outlook by more than half, due to the release schedule of the 3DS, and also currency issues (the stronger yen).
Whichever way you cut it, it’s not a good week for Nintendo.
