Nokia has been busy flaunting some statistics regarding its Ovi Store, showing what a success it has apparently become.

The Finnish firm reckons that 200,000 people sign up on a daily basis for the store, and the number of downloads has reached 2.3 million every day. Some 70 developers have surpassed the 1 million download milestone.

These developers include the likes of Electronic Arts, PepsiCo, Shazam, HeroCraft and Digital Chocolate.

Ovi is available in some 190 countries worldwide. Tero Ojanperä, Executive VP of Services at Nokia, commented: “Today people discover Ovi through Maps, Music, Messaging, Store and Life Tools. With a new generation of amazing devices, like the Nokia N8, developers are looking at Ovi as a good business decision and a chance to innovate and create next-generation mobile experiences for our family of new Symbian smartphones.”

Nokia just announced yesterday that the N8 smartphone has started shipping in the UK for those who have pre-ordered.
