3 announces Froyo update for HTC Desire owners

3 has announced that customers who own an HTC Desire will be receiving a Froyo upgrade tomorrow.

Froyo is Android 2.2, and the update is planned to go live at 9am tomorrow morning. Let’s hope it goes without a hitch, unlike certain other companies Froyo-Desire updates (cough-O2-cough).

3 has tweeted to remind customers who are planning to upgrade first thing: “HTC Desire owners – please try and connect to wi-fi when you update tomorrow and back up your data before installing, just in case!”

Wi-fi is recommended due to the size of the update, as 3G may cause you to incur additional data charges. While Android 2.2 brings with it some impressive goodies in terms of speed, device tethering and full Flash, it won’t be long before Android 3.0 is out now.

Tweeting to let to remind users to switch on their WiFi might help a small percentage of users but surely a text message to all users is the way to do it?
