Sharp has announced the BD-HP90S, a 3D capable Blu-ray player which should be out in the UK next month.

It’s a stylish ultra-thin unit which can lie flat, stand upright, or indeed it can be wall mounted, which will go nicely with your flat screen if you’ve hammered that up on the wall.

The unit provides what Sharp describes as “brilliant” 3D and 2D pictures, and it comes with built-in wireless, so you can hook it up to your home network and stream videos off YouTube via the player.

Sharp also claims that the BD-HP90S is very user friendly, with a new on-screen control panel function which allows for control via a “suitably equipped” TV remote, not just a Sharp one as other manufacturers will be supported.

If paired with a Sharp AQUOS LCD TV in pure mode, when connected via HDMI the Blu-ray player will automatically optimise picture settings for the television.

The price isn’t cheap, however, with the player being pitched at £380.
