Avanti’s HYLAS 1 satellite has now arrived at its launch site and is set to be launched in November with on site preparations underway.

The satellite will be launched on an Ariane 5 rocket provided by Arianespace, from the European Spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana.

It will orbit the earth at a height of around 36,000 kilometers.

It has also been announced that two UK ISPs, InTouch Systems and DSL Telecom, have signed up to sell an 8Mb service which is expected to cost around £25 per month.

HYLAS1 will provide services such as High Definition Television and interactive satellite-delivered broadband programs.

Avanti’s second satellite, HYLAS2 is expected to launch next spring.
