Sky strengthens Living channel

Sky is making headway with the integration of the channels it recently acquired from Virgin Media, with the news that the Living channel will be rebranded to Sky Living next year.

Sky’s acquisition of Living, Bravo and Virgin 1 was approved by the Office of Fair Trading earlier this month.

Following the re-brand, Sky Living will occupy channel 107 on Sky’s EPG, and its programme budget will be increased by 25%.

The investment will boost Sky Living, allowing it to sit alongside the broadcaster’s other main entertainment channels, Sky1 and Sky Atlantic, an HD subscription channel due to launch next year, which will offer US imports including Mad Men, Boardwalk Empire and Treme.

Selected content from all three entertainment channels will be available on the newly launched Pull VOD service Sky Anytime+.

Sky also announced that Eddie Izzard will star in its new adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island, which is expected to form part of the Christmas 2012 programme line-up.

Treasure Island will be a step onto new ground for Sky, which usually focuses on crime or fantasy.
