It’s a day for app store milestones, by all accounts, because not only has the Android Market hit 100,000 apps, but the Windows Phone 7 marketplace has accelerated to… well, just 1,000 apps.

But as WMPoweruser reports, Microsoft has managed this feat in just a couple of weeks, whereas it took the Windows Mobile marketplace over half a year to crack the same achievement.

There’s still a long way to go, obviously, especially when compared to Apple and its monumental tally of 280,000 or so estimated apps.

Microsoft can happily sets its sights on the BlackBerry App World, for now, which last month reached the 10,000 mark, a more than achievable short term target.
