File this one in the rumour cabinet, but it seems that Google may be planning on wheeling the successor to the Nexus One smartphone out before Christmas.
Which is news to us. The last we heard back in mid-summer, Google CEO Eric Schmidt was saying that the Nexus One wasn’t going to have a successor.
Anyway, this rumour, which was picked up by Phandroid (and came from the London newspaper City AM), claims that the Nexus Two will be an exclusive to Carphone Warehouse.
Of course, Android 3.0 (Gingerbread) is also due at the end of the year, so it would make sense that the Nexus Two – if it is coming – would emerge bearing the latest and greatest version of Android.
While the Nexus One wasn’t exactly a storming success, it did okay, and was fairly well received by some enthusiasts. Bang up to date versions of Android being a carrot if nothing else.
