Sky News HD is to be launched on the Measat platform, which will distribute the channel across the Asia Pacific region.

A fibre network provided by BT Wholesale will carry the service from the Sky News Headquarters in Osterley, London, to RRsat’s Global Network and teleport facility.

It will then be uplinked onto the MEASAT 3A satellite.

Mark Wilson-Dunn, BT Wholesale Media & Broadcast’s Global Sales and Marketing Director, said: “This is an important development both for us and Sky as it allows for the further distribution of Sky News HD overseas. The distribution of Sky News HD content successfully combines fibre and satellite and was implemented in just two weeks.”

Sky News HD, which was launched in May, is Britain’s first High Definition rolling news channel.
