Fable III has ousted Fallout: New Vegas from the top of the UK game chart, as compiled by Chart Track.

Microsoft’s latest instalment of its RPG series outsold the launch week of Fable II, but only just, shifting 6,000 more units. The sales represent the fourth biggest launch week for an Xbox 360 game this year.

Fallout: New Vegas has slipped to number three with its sales halving, with FIFA 11 picking up some pace and nipping in at number two. Just Dance 2 was also up a place to number four.

Then Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II made its presence known at number five with a new entry, followed Medal of Honor which fell to number six. WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2011 made the third new entry to the top ten at number seven.

Interestingly, The Sims 3 popped back into the chart at number nine with its release on console formats.

Rock Band 3 made a rather disappointing debut at number twenty-six, and another singing related game, The X Factor, only managed number thirty-seven despite the undoubted popularity of the TV show. As Simon Cowell might say, “I didn’t get it.”
