Nvidia shows off new vapour cooling tech

Nvidia has been showing off new graphics card technology which will feature on its up and coming boards.

The demonstration, which is up here on YouTube, is hosted by Director of Technical Marketing for Geforce, Tom Petersen. It shows off the new card running some tech demos and Call of Duty: Black Ops.

The new technology uses a vapour chamber to better cool the card, as opposed to the traditional and noisy fan. Peterson says that the new system is “completely nearly silent” (ahem), before going on to more realistically compare it to the GTX 480, and the GTX 285, both of which it’s quieter than (considerably in the case of the former).

He promises both the temperature and acoustics will be “amazing”. And the graphics on show look pretty impressive, too.

We shouldn’t have too long to wait before we can enjoy this sort of performance, as vapour cooled cards are apparently due to be formally unveiled soon.
