Kinect launched in the UK

The day has finally dawned and after it went on sale in the US last week, the Kinect motion control system for the Xbox 360 is now on shelves in the UK.

Last night saw the big Microsoft launch, which included performances from Leona Lewis and boy band The Wanted at the ice rink outside the Natural History Museum in London.

With another midnight opening, gamers were again queueing to be the first to get their hands on the peripheral, with hundreds turning up at Game’s main launch events, according to the Press Association. Some keen early adopters had queued for over 12 hours.

Kinect will set you back £129.99, and comes with a free game, Kinect Adventures (although it’s more like a series of mini-games). A further 19 launch titles are available, and Microsoft expects strong sales on the run up to Christmas.

With a $500 million marketing budget behind it, you’ve probably seen some of the adverts on TV already.
