Ollie the psychic octopus predicts top Xmas gadgets

We were all saddened by the recent death of Paul the psychic octopus. What do you mean who?

He was the famous mollusc who predicted World Cup football results earlier this year, correctly forecasting that Germany would be beaten by Spain, and that Spain would beat the Netherlands in the final.

But it seems that now a close relative, cousin Ollie the Octopus, is carrying on the family tradition, except in Blackpool this time rather than Germany.

Ollie will attempt to predict Blackpool’s results in the Premier League this year, using the same method Paul did. Nope, not multi-tentacled divining through a crystal ball, or waterproof tarot cards, but simply sitting on one of two boxes.

Not only is he doing the football scores like Paul did, but he’s also attempting to predict the best selling Christmas gifts this year. And his selections? Fish, sponges and blotting paper.

Of course not. According to Ollie, Move for the PS3 will outsell Microsoft’s Kinect, which goes against what the pundits are predicting. He also reckoned that the iPad will best the Samsung Galaxy Tab in sales, although it doesn’t take a clairvoyant cephalopod to work that out.

Jet Pack Buzz Lightyear will apparently be the best selling toy, too. All this was organised by price comparison website Kelkoo, who have some videos of Ollie in action here.
