Cut the Rope hits 3 million download mark

Cut the Rope, the latest big mobile game from Chillingo, the company that published the original Angry Birds, has now reached the 3 million downloads milestone.

It sold a million copies in its first 10 days, and then another million in the following 10 days, although it has taken twice as long, almost three weeks, for the game to reach its third million. Sales are slowing up, although they’re still impressively strong.

The iOS physics based puzzle game features a monster called Om Nom who the player must feed by cutting a rope with their finger so pieces of suspended candy drop into his mouth. Like Angry Birds, it’s simple, but addictive.

The developer of the game, ZeptoLab, also took time out to announce the 1.1 update for the game. The update will contain 25 new spaceship themed levels, with anti-gravity rearing its confusing head. Retina display graphics will also be gracing Cut the Rope 1.1.
