Rim has confirmed when its BlackBerry PlayBook will arrive in the States and in the UK.
The tablet will come out in the US in the first quarter of next year, and over here in the second quarter. In other words, it could be approaching mid-summer before we get our hands on it.
Several Rim execs have reportedly confirmed these dates, and the fact that the slate will be priced at the $499 mark, which Co-CEO Jim Balsillie had already revealed. In theory, that should translate to around £315, although when you add on the usual mark up for tech goods coming over here, it’ll probably be nearer £400 than £300.
The PlayBook boasts some impressive hardware, including a dual-core 1GHz processor, a true multi-tasking operating sysem (QNX), and twin cameras front and back. Where the iPad is aimed at consumers, the PlayBook is more targeting business users.
