iOS 4.2 emerges for your iGadget

Batten down the hatches, hold on to your horses, and partake of a number of other pointless measures, because the latest version of iOS has finally arrived.

iOS 4.2 is ready to download onto your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch, bringing with it some new goodies. In fact, there are over 100 new features for iPad users, to whom it will make the biggest difference.

Steve Job enthused: “iOS 4.2 makes the iPad a completely new product, just in time for the holiday season. Once again, the iPad with iOS 4.2 will define the target that other tablets will aspire to, but very few, if any, will ever be able to hit.”

The upgrade sees multi-tasking being introduced to the Apple tablet, with instant switching between apps and no further drain on the iPad’s impressive battery life being caused. It will also bring folders, a unified inbox, and a game centre to matchmake online bouts between mobile gamers on all iOS devices.

iOS 4.2 also comes with AirPlay, which allows for the streaming of music or video wirelessly from your iGadget to Apple TV, and AirPrint. The latter enables much simpler wi-fi printing by totally doing away with printer drivers.

A new Find My iPhone (or iPad or iPod Touch) feature is now a free to use app with the latest iOS. This lets you locate your device by using a sound, or on a map, and it can be used to remote lock or wipe a stolen gadget.

You can grab iOS 4.2 from iTunes now.

  1. Im sorry mate, but as much as you’d like it to, your Droid cannot possibly play a true 1080p file.. In fact no phone can at the moment except the currently fictitious Tegra 2 phones on the way and maybe that Creative Zii Egg..
