Sony reckons that 3D is going to be big on its console – which isn’t too surprising, given the firm makes its own 3DTVs, which it’s hoping to sell by the bucket-load.

Apparently there are now in excess of 50 games in development for the PS3 which will support 3D technology. And 20 of those are in-house efforts.

SCEE studio director Mick Hocking told Develop: “It’s a very positive thing to see the great level of interest in 3D from our development studios.”

“Overall we have more than fifty titles currently being converted into 3D, and this number if growing fast. Some of them are massive names. That’s a really, really good sign that the industry is behind our unique message that 3D is a key element in the future of home consoles.”

Big names games which will be feeling the three dimensional touch include Killzone 3 and of course Gran Turismo 5, which is out tomorrow.
