Halo: Combat Evolved to be remade?

The latest games industry buzz is that Microsoft is planning to re-make the original Halo game.

Halo: Combat Evolved was released back in November 2001 as the killer launch title for the original Xbox console in the US (early 2002 in the UK, when we bought our Xbox at a vastly inflated price because it was swiftly dropped after launch, and no, we still haven’t forgotten that).

According to an article in Games Master magazine, 343 Industries, the developer now working on the series instead of Bungie, will kick off their Halo work with an HD remake of the original.

With Halo 4 slated for 2012, the remake would be likely to hit home next autumn, which would make sense as it’s the tenth anniversary of Halo: Combat Evolved being released.

Of course, this rumour could be wide of the mark. And some might consider it messing with a classic, given that it won’t be Bungie who’ll be remodelling Combat Evolved. Tap your thoughts in the comments section, as ever…

  1. Maybe it is about time Microsoft let another company try their hand at creating a new title for the franchise. It couldn’t really hurt as personally every halo after halo 2 was a dissapointment.
Bungie promised so much and delivered so little!
