New Sony Bravia KDL-22PX300 comes with built-in PS2

Sony has launched a new Bravia TV set with a difference. The 22 inch LCD comes with its very own integrated console, a PlayStation 2.

In actual fact, the console itself is the base of the stand which the display sits on. It’s a slightly odd move, but one which may please some retro gamers who fancy breaking out their old PS2 classics and giving them a run. Or indeed PS1 games, or DVDs, although everything the console delivers will be in standard definition, of course.

The KDL-22PX300 boasts HD capabilities to the tune of 720p (1080 would be rather pointless on such a small screen anyway). In terms of connectivity, it has four HDMI ports, component, Scart, three USB ports and an ethernet port.

Which isn’t bad for a TV set which retails at just £200, and comes with its own built-in gaming system. Though how many folks are going to be that interested in playing last-gen PlayStation games, we shall have to see.

  1. What’s wrong with playing last-gen console games? I still play the games on my ps2 as some of them are still better than the crap we get now for ps3 and xbox360.

  2. @paul the new generations of consoles are capable of so much more than the last gen. I do agree that many of the old games are better than new but that’s the fault of the software not the hardware. While u have a new gen console u can wait for the games to catch up but an old console will always be limited. What makes this appealing is the price though.£200 is a bargain for any hd t.v never mind one that can also play playstation games as well
