The Mac App Store could be launched a week today, the latest rumours swirling around the net indicate.
The launch wasn’t expected just yet – Apple set itself a three month deadline, which gives it until the end of January to get things rolling – but it seems the company has made very good time indeed.
However, Pocket Lint highlighted the not-so-good news about the app store, with Apple making the following announcement to developers: “Your website is the best place to provide demos, trial versions, or betas of your software for customers to explore. The apps you submit to be reviewed for the Mac App Store should be fully functional, retail versions of your apps.”
In other words, there’ll be no great wadges of free content present down at the Mac App Store, which seems rather a shame.
Apple has scheduled a press conference for later this week, so perhaps that might bring with it an official announcement of the store launch date.
