Norman Foster to design new “Apple City”

It seems that famous British architect Norman Foster may be working with Apple.

At least according to 9to5Mac, which relays a report from the Spanish newspaper El Economista, stating that Foster will be designing the new campus for the iGadget maker.

Apple has recently bought another 98 acres on its Cupertino site, and it plans to expand its tech HQ, with the idea apparently being that it will consists of two campuses linked by an underground tunnel system. It all sounds very fancy and futuristic.

When it comes to the philosophy of the overall design, the focus will very much be on green issues, with multi-functional buildings constructed using environmentally friendly materials, and the emphasis on low carbon – or indeed no carbon – emissions and renewable energy.

The new place has apparently been referred to as Apple City, or the City of Apple, although it’s not certain whether that’s the official title for the project. It’s certainly an apt moniker, given how green this new site will be.
