A new online TV channel dedicated to the retail industry has been launched, bringing the latest news, interviews, developments and innovations in the sector to a global audience.

Retail Vision features an online stream of TV programmes covering all that is new and exciting about store formats, product innovation and customer experiences, together with candid interviews with retail industry leaders. Programmes are also available as an iTunes podcast, updated every few weeks.

Retail Vision’s founders Dan Munford and Peter Knott are confident that the retail industry and its observers will come to love their new online TV channel, which already has around 33,000 subscribers worldwide. “We started dreaming about a TV channel for the retail sector nine months ago. I never doubted we’d be able to do it, but what has been remarkable is the huge level of interest shown,” said Munford.

“We identified that there was a gap in the international retail market for showcasing different retail innovations in a TV format which is why we came up with this convenient way to share the latest retail ideas and developments,” he added.

Retail Vision adds a new dimension to storytelling, and already features videos on Tesco’s environmental convenience store, Waitrose’s new grocery format, SPAR’s growth in China and the Sewell Group, judged by the Sunday Times as the 8th best company to work for in the UK.

The channel currently interviews Jerry Marwood, Managing Director of SPAR UK and Stan Sheetz the President of US-based petroleum retailer Sheetz Inc. Viewers enjoy a one-to-one with some of the best brains in international retail.

Two more “Meet the Boss” interviews will air in the New Year with 7 Eleven Australia CEO Warren Wilmott and Shiro Inoue, Senior Managing Director at Japan’s Family Mart which now operates more than 15,000 stores in seven countries.

“Putting an interview together with high production values is important,” says Knott. “What’s even more important though is the ability to send the programme directly to the iPhone, iPad or Blackberry. It’s the way ahead.”

International suppliers are also using this opportunity to showcase their latest innovations.

“Retail Vision has proven itself as an exciting and effective new channel,” says John Austin-Davies, Product Marketing Director of refrigeration manufacturers Epta. “It has been interesting to receive comment from those operating in this market, and I know that one major food retailer in particular has directed many people to the video, as it is very significant for their business.”

“All in all, the new online channel is off to a flying start and with an ever-increasing audience around the world, the impact is likely to be significant,” concludes Munford.

Knott and Munford combine the expertise and resources of creative communications agency Airplay Media and international retail research company Insight Research.

Retail Vision is online at www.retailvision.tv and is broadcast to over 30,000 retailers and suppliers in over 100 countries. Subscribers receive the latest editions through a simple email notification.
