Apple has compiled its annual iTunes Rewind, a chart of the apps of the year on the iPhone and iPad for 2010.

So what were Apple‘s fave apps on these devices? According to an article on Mashable, the big A picked Flipboard (a social magazine app) as its iPad app of the year, and Hipstamatic (a basic digital photo editor) for the iPhone.

Angry Birds also did very well. It came top of the paid iPhone apps, second in the top ten free apps (with the Lite version), and second in the top ten grossing iPhone apps.

The top grossing iPhone app was apparently MLB.com at Bat 2010, and the top free iPhone app was Facebook.

In terms of the iPad, top of the free app tree was iBooks, followed by Pandora Radio and Netflix.

Pages was number one in the top ten paid iPad apps, followed by GoodReader for iPad, and Numbers, then Angry Birds HD in fourth place.

Pages and Numbers were number one and two respectively in the top ten grossing iPad apps, followed by Keynote, LogMeIn Ignition, and Scrabble.
