Twitter is coming to Europe, and the UK government has had the big guns out, canvassing to push forward London as the prime location for the European Twitter HQ.

According to the Telegraph, David Cameron and Boris Johnson have met with Twitter representatives, and impressed them with the case for London.

The Telegraph pointed to a tweet that Katie Jacobs Stanton, Head of International Strategy at Twitter, posted: “Hugely impressed with PM Cameron @MayorOfLondon & the @Number10gov teams.”

She said of Mr Cameron: “Most awesome day. Prime Minister Cameron just stopped in our meeting @number10.”

And of Boris: “He is awesome! Smart, funny and big advocate of tech and innovation.”

It has been reported that Twitter has been looking at potential properties near to the so-called Silicon Roundabout area of London, the equivalent to Silicon Valley which the government hopes to develop, enticing plenty of big tech firms to come to the UK.
