Warcraft Cataclysm fails to unseat Black Ops

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm was launched last week, but the latest expansion for the juggernaut MMORPG failed to dethrone Black Ops from the top spot of the UK game chart.

Indeed, Cataclysm only made number three, with strong sales from FIFA 11 (15% up on last week) meaning that EA’s footy game held on to the number two spot. Cataclysm did, however, manage to achieve the biggest launch on the PC format this year, according to chart keepers Chart Track.

Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood slipped to number four, followed by Gran Turismo 5, and then another Ubisoft title, Just Dance 2.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit is still revving along at number seven, followed by a trio of Nintendo titles rounding out the top ten: Donkey Kong Country Returns, Professor Layton and the Lost Future, and finally, Wii Fit Plus.

  2. @fools - it’s a game chart, covering all gaming markets. The fact that WoW is PC-only is mentioned and covered. Which part of any of this did you have trouble reading and understanding?

  3. So why would this be news? PC Game being 4th on the charts vs a game that’s only 4 platforms. I think WoW beat the sales of PC Black Ops since it’s virtually unplayable.

  4. @Chris C - if you don’t want to know how the latest game charts are ranking, just don’t read about them! For most people this is general gaming news, and it’s obviously an achievement a single-platform game can rank strongly so fast - though that would never have been a surprise with WoW anyway.
