Vodafone rolls out Android 2.2 update for HTC Magic

The HTC Magic might not be a new phone – in fact it’s a bit of a veteran, these days – but that hasn’t stopped Vodafone bringing Froyo to the handset.

Vodafone announced on its forum that Android 2.2 is now available as an upgrade for HTC Magic owners. The roll out has begun now, and you’ll receive a notification on your phone when it’s ready to download.

As ever, because of the size of the Froyo update, the operator recommends that users download it via wi-fi rather than 3G to avoid potential data charges. And it’s always good practice to back up any data on your phone before going ahead with the installation, too.

Android 2.2 will bring a number of enhancements to the Magic, including the latest Gmail and Android Market clients, support for USB tethering, and the ability to save applications direct to an SD card. Improvements are also promised for the phone’s camera and bluetooth functionality.

  1. The new HTC Magic upgrade has left me with no email facility. I was using K9. Any ideas?
