Facebook leaks Memories, goes offline for 30 minutes

There was a bit of a spherical object dropped down at the Facebook offices on Friday, with the website going down for close to half an hour while the mess was cleared up, according to a BBC report.

This was caused while the site was tinkering with redesigned brand pages and a new page management feature. Product prototypes were accidentally pushed out and leaked, including something called Memories, a chronological timeline of what a user has done on Facebook.

So doubtless we can expect that to be introduced in the near future. We expect the Facebook engineer(s) in question have received a bit of a slap on the wrist.

Facebook’s new profile page design, which is currently rolling out, hasn’t been particularly well received in some quarters of the user base. Mind you, that’s about par for the course when it comes to major changes at the social networking site.
