Razer Onza controller for Xbox unveiled

Purveyor of high-end gaming peripherals Razer has announced the launch of a new controller for the Xbox 360.

The Razer Onza comes in Standard and Tournament editions, and is essentially built along the same lines as a normal Xbox controller, but with a number of custom features and refinements.

The D-pad is an improved version with discrete sections, the action buttons are backlit and hyper-responsive, and the multi-function shoulder buttons are fully programmable.

There’s no wireless here, either, with Razer opting for a wired connection, although it’s a 15 foot cable so should stretch across even the biggest living room. The controller is PC compatible, too.

The Tournament Edition of the Onza also offers adjustable resistance analog sticks. You can twist either stick one way to make them more resistant for steadier aiming, or twist the opposite direction for swifter, more fluid movements.

Robert Krakoff, President of Razer USA, enthused: “We are extremely excited to finally offer console gamers the high-precision and tremendous detail that we have always done for the PC. So I recommend pre-ordering for minimal stress and safety issues, as riots and mass mobs are expected at Razers’ retailers.”

Pricing is pitched at £45 for the Tournament Edition, and £35 for the Standard Edition. The controllers should be available later this month, so let the bitching about “cheating” on Xbox Live commence…
