Nintendo has revealed more details of its launch line-up for the 3DS over in Japan.

The initial launch day line-up for the three dimensional handheld has already been unveiled, and includes the likes of Ridge Racer, Professor Layton, Nintendogs and Cats, Super Street Fighter IV 3D and Pro Evolution 3D Soccer.

In Japan, these will all be out on the handheld’s launch day, February 26th, with some of the new revelations to follow in March.

According to Play.tm, these include Super Monkey Ball 3D on March 11th, and then Splinter Cell 3D on the 17th.

They’ll be followed by a triplet of releases on the 24th; Gundam: The 3D Battle, Dead or Alive Dimensions and Rabbids Time Travel. Pro Baseball Famisuta 2011 and Blazblue Continuum Shift II will follow on the 31st.

Other games also set to turn up in March include The Sims 3, Steel Diver, Asphalt 3D Nitro Racing, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory and Virus Shooter XX.

Of course, this is the Japanese schedule. The handheld isn’t due out until the 18th March (or possibly the week after) over here. The European release date and launch titles should be confirmed at a press event next Wednesday.

In other 3DS news, it seems developers won’t be forced into making their games three dimensional for the upcoming handheld, as that would be unreasonable.

Legendary game designer Shigeru Miyamoto was quoted by MCV as stating: “New games cards, however, will be specific to Nintendo 3DS, but whether they will be in 3D or not is basically up to the maker, just like how much to use the touchscreen was up to developers for Nintendo DS.”
