Samsung has announced that its TV App Store has broken the 2 million download barrier.

App sales have accelerated considerably over the Christmas period, according to a report on T3.

It took Samsung the best part of nine months to push the first million apps through to Samsung TV owners, but the second million was achieved in just under two months. That’s a pretty impressive sales upsurge, which the company expects to increase further as more Smart TVs are sold in 2011.

There are nearly 400 apps available on the Samsung TV App Store, and the majority of them are free. Some of the most downloaded applications include LoveFilm, YouTube, Texas Hold ‘Em and Twitter.

Samsung showed off its new Smart TV features at the recent CES show, and they include a powerful universal search feature that will sift through multiple sources including your video library and the likes of YouTube. The system will also make intelligent viewing recommendations (that’s most of YouTube out, then).
