Xperia Play PS phone spotted in China

by Darren Allan

Apparently the PlayStation phone, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, has been spotted for sale in China.

The Register Hardware reports that ePrice, a website in Taiwan, received a tip from a reader on the mainland that the handset was available. Sending someone to investigate, they discovered this was indeed the case.

And took a bucket-load of pictures, which appear to be of the genuine hardware, to prove it. Check them out here. As has been previously rumoured, it seems the device has a 4 inch display, 1GHz processor and it runs Android 2.3 (Gingerbread).

With the handset apparently finished and ready to go, as we speculated this morning, a Mobile World Congress launch seems like it’s definitely on the cards.

Rumour also has it that in the UK, Orange will carry the Xperia Play.
