Nokia E7 might be months away yet

More Nokia E7 news… while the handset might have gone on pre-order in Finland, there’s still a lot of speculation about the UK release date.

Much like the N8 which was famously delayed a number of times last year, the E7 was announced to have slipped to early 2011 last month.

But now it seems like January/February might have been too optimistic a release estimate, according to what the Inquirer has heard from Nokia.

The Finnish company told them that while a first quarter release is still anticipated, the smartphone could potentially slip to the second quarter of 2011. That really isn’t good news for Nokia, as the phone runs the risk of being forgotten about by then.

The E7 boasts a full Qwerty keypad, an 8 megapixel camera, social network integration, and a 4 inch AMOLED display with Clear Black technology (that ensures a clear picture even when outside).

But with the likes of dual-core Android phones on the way, the E7 might look less attractive… and if the delay is lengthy enough to put it close to the next iPhone, then that’ll be doubly unfortunate.

Nokia has already suffered a blow today with news from the States that the company has pulled the launch of the X7 with AT&T, due to the operator not being willing to push it enough. Like many, it would seem, AT&T has its chips more on Android than Symbian.
