Nintendo 3DS battery life will be 3 to 5 hours

Last week, we reported on concerns over the 3DS brought up by a spec sheet for the handheld which stated the expected battery life would be 3 to 5 hours.

And now, in a question and answer session with Kotaku, Nintendo has confirmed that figure of 3 to 5 hours, although the company also noted that this is with 3D activated. Presumably, the more graphically demanding the game, and the higher the 3D slider, the less battery time the device will run for.

Running it without 3D on at all, you’ll get up to 8 hours, although the majority of people will probably be pretty keen on the three dimensional gaming. After all, it is the system’s main selling point.

However, turning the wireless off and lowering the screen’s brightness will also help extend battery life.

Meanwhile, other worries have emerged aside from the battery, namely the £220 to £230 price tag retailers are slapping on the handheld. Whether that’s a little too much to ask, time will tell. But it’s certainly more than we’re used to paying for Nintendo hardware.

  1. I doubt people could stand 3-5 hours of 3D at once anyway.
