The much awaited sequel to Dead Space from EA has shot to the top of the UK all-format game chart, as compiled by Chart Track.

The action horror/sci-fi romp pushed Sony’s LittleBigPlanet 2 down to number two. Dead Space 2 recorded much better sales than the original, and was 70% up on its launch week (the original only managed to debut at number six back in 2008).

As for the rest of the chart, Fifa 11 continues to sell well at number three, as does Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, which has gone up to number four. Call of Duty: Black Ops has slipped three places to number five.

Another Ubisoft title, Just Dance 2, is jiving away at number six, followed closely by Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, and then Wii Fit Plus.

Rounding off the top ten is Nintendo’s Art Academy, followed by a re-entry for the original Ubisoft Just Dance game.
