Facebook Places deals launching in UK

Bookmark and Share

by Darren Allan

You may recall that back in early November of last year, Facebook unveiled a system of shopping deals for its Places location sharing system in the US.

This involved implementing deals which Facebookers who check-in at shops can benefit from, and the system is now coming to the UK.

The deals can be straight discounts, or loyalty type schemes, with possible requirements such as getting other friends to come along and check-in at the shop.

Whatever they are, free goodies are on offer for those who are willing to broadcast their location and favourite shopping haunts on the social networking site.

The Press Association reports that a number of chains have signed up to take part in promotions, including Debenhams, Argos and Starbucks. So you might be able to get yourself a free mocha-chocca-latte-vanilla-frappucino – or even a coffee, perhaps.
