Will Carling loses iPad, then tracks it down

On Wednesday, Will Carling managed to leave his iPad on the train.

After someone found it and walked off with the tablet, he used Mobileme to track the gadget, updating the whole saga on Twitter as it happened.

His first tweet set the scene: “On an adventure! Left my Ipad on train yesterday, Doh ! Have now tracked it down to a building in Woking. On my way! Could be interesting!”

Then he actually managed to get into the block of flats where his iPad had been kidnapped to: “Used the Mobile me tracker. It is in a block of flats! Managed to get in & knock on all 18 doors! No answer surprisingly. So left notes :-O”

And then: “Breaking news! My Ipad has moved! It is now at the station! This is like Enemy of the State!!”

Or the Bourne Identity, perhaps? The police were notified – and a happy ending was in store: “Result! Police have just called, Ipad has been handed over! It was handed into Woking Station. Tracked it all on Mobile me - weird / awesome…”

All that’s left now is to wonder when the book will be coming out. Just take it a bit easier on the exclamation marks when it comes to scribbling the novel down, though, Will…

The ex-England captain also declared himself as a Rovio fan by revealing the method he tested his iPad to see if it was all still in working order.

“Just indulged myself with a game of Angry Birds to check all is well with my IPad !! Haha.”

  1. It would of been different if:
    1.They turned it off.
    2.Formatted it?
    3.Didn’t hand it in.
4.Turned out to be in the possession of a gang of hoodies who would then proceed to take his Iphone. lol?

Good to see some people don’t assume “finders keepers” and someone spent a LOT of money to buy this and handed to the relevant authorities

  3. The ipad/iphones have unique ids built into the hardware. Once you’ve told Apple it has been stolen, any one who turns it on, regardless of the state of the ssd. Apple will render it unusable once they try to go to the itunes market.
