3 has announced that it has rolled out the OS 6 update for customers using the BlackBerry Bold 9780 and 9700, Torch 9800 and Curve 9300.

The network operator made the announcement on its Twitter account, and noted that you need to plug your phone into your PC to update the operating system.

OS 6 brings a number of improvements to BlackBerry smartphones, including improvements to photo quality, a reworked media player, a new webkit browser with tabs, along with a fresh interface featuring multi-touch and kinetic scrolling.

And there are quite a number of other refinements besides these major changes.

  1. I have been waiting ages for the OS6 update for my Bold 9700 (I’m on O2). So today, I plug in my phone to put on some music, and it pops up with the OS6 update on the desktop manager, so I did it, and it’s all up and running perfect, and everything like email, internet, bbm, etc is working fine. I thought it was only available on Three and Vodafone, so why has it let me upgrade? Strange.
