There has been a lot of leakage regarding the sequels to both Samsung’s Galaxy S smartphone and Galaxy Tab slate ahead of their launch at Mobile World Congress tonight.

But now both devices have been officially confirmed by the company releasing shots of staff showing them off in front of the Samsung MWC stand. And official tech specs have been spilled, too.

SlashGear spotted the snaps on Samsung Hub, and perhaps the first thing to note is that the official names are the S II and Tab II, not S2 and Tab 2 as we’d previously thought. A minor numerical distinction but one worth making.

The Galaxy S II smartphone comes with a 1GHz processor, 4.3 inch Super AMOLED Plus display, an 8 megapixel camera (full HD capable), bluetooth, wi-fi and the option of 16 or 32GB of memory.

The phone uses an updated TouchWiz interface on top of Android 2.3, and boasts a games and music hub, along with a social and readers hub.

As for the Tab II, that runs the Honeycomb Android OS (specifically designed for tablets) and is a 10.1 inch slate to rival the iPad’s size. It also comes with an 8 megapixel camera that’s capable of full HD playback and recording.

The full details will be confirmed this evening at Samsung’s official MWC launch event.
