Super-fast broadband could add value to your house

It seems that broadband is a lot like an en-suite bathroom. In as much as the presence of a quality broadband connection at your property could add some value to it, although probably not as much as a cubicle with a power shower.

This is according to a survey conducted by ISPreview, polling almost 750 Brits on the issue.

Half of respondents said they would pay more for a house with faster broadband than they currently had access to. And 69% indicated that they would be put off a “beautiful new house” if they knew it lacked a “fast” broadband connection.

74% of folks described broadband as “critically important” to their home life. So there you have it – perhaps estate agents are now going to start mentioning broadband on their blurb about a property.

This proves just how important broadband speeds are to internet users and why it’s essential to know exactly what speeds you can expect when signing up. The ASA has now opened a review of broadband speeds advertising so broadband users can have their say on how their services are advertised until 25th February, here: http://www.cap.org.uk/CAP-and-BCAP-Consultations/Open-consultations/CAP-BCAP-Up-to-speed-claims-in-broadband.aspx

This is great news for Virgin Media who’ve been been calling for more honesty in broadband advertising with their Stop the Broadband Con campaign (www.stopthebroadbandcon.org)
