Toshiba announces new 10 inch tablet at MWC

by Darren Allan

At Mobile World Congress, Toshiba has announced plans to push out another tablet later this year in the UK.

This slate is going to be more high-powered than the turgidly named Folio 100, which was launched in the final quarter of last year and ran into considerable trouble with high levels of return rates.

The specs of the as yet unnamed 10 inch tablet include a 1280 x 800 resolution display, a dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, along with twin cameras, one on the front for video chatting, and one on the rear.

Light sensors working in tandem with clever software will ensure the display adjusts itself for the best possible picture in any given environment, which sounds like quite a cool touch. Also on board is an HDMI port and an accelerometer.

The release date is still very vague for this one, but it’ll be Q3 at the earliest. By which time a lot more tablets are going to be off the starting block, the iPad 2 and BlackBerry PlayBook to name a couple.
