Motorola Xoom tablet dated for the UK

We now know when the Motorola Xoom is going to be arriving in Europe.

The Inquirer reports that the flashy tablet will be landing in the second quarter; May would be our guess. It will be sold in both wi-fi only, and wi-fi and 3G flavours, just like Apple‘s magical slate.

The Xoom packs some hardware, including a 1GHz dual-core processor, a 10 inch 1280 x 800 display, and twin cameras, an accelerometer, gyroscope and HDMI out, with Android 3.0 running the show.

But the sting in the tail looks like it could be the price. According to UberGizmo, over in the States it’s going to pitch up at $800. What that will translate to in pounds, we’re not sure, but we’re betting initial price estimates are going to be up there with the Samsung Galaxy Tab’s original tag – at the £600 to £700 level.

Of course, the Tab came down, and very quickly in order to be competitive with the iPad. You can now bag a Galaxy Tab for £400, although of course, its successor has just been unveiled at MWC.
