Crysis 2 won’t have EA online pass

Good news for shooter fans keenly awaiting the arrival of the sequel to Crysis.

Gamepur reports that at a recent EA event in New York, it was confirmed that the game won’t use an online pass system, as has been employed in some EA games recently.

The pass allows the buyer of a new game to access the online content by entering a code. However, if the game is then sold on second-hand, the new owner can’t play online and must pay for a new code to get access.

Apparently developer Crytek was offered the choice of whether to use the system, and decided against it.

Crysis 2 is out late March, but you’ll be able to sample its multiplayer delights tomorrow, as a new demo is coming out. PS3 owners are slightly out of luck, though, as for the moment it’s just out on Xbox and PC. The PlayStation version is “coming soon”.

The fresh demo includes two maps, “Skyline” and “Pier 17”, as well as two modes, team instant-action and “crash site”.
